The Inaugural Soul Music Awards will be held Saturday February 3rd, 2024 at Club Oasis in Hazlehurst, MS 363 Monticello St.

Special performances by John Haley, Dr Dee, Dia Grover, MusicDoll, Mississippi Humminboi, James Redd, D. Saunders, Aretha Henry and others.

Special guests Isaac Lindsey, Dj Show, Ms I Music and others

This award show recognizes Southern Soul, Blues, and R-n-B artists along with their affiliates. This platform is designed to bring more attention to some of those individuals that may be overlooked.

Rochelle Duncan is an awesome woman who always makes space for others regardless of her own obstacles and dilemmas. Rochelle is one of the world’s most thoughtful, caring, non judgemental people who always sees the best in everyone. Rochelle is a person of ease, fun, delight, love, concern and support.

Rochelle at heart has always been a person who is the life of the party. When she walks in a room she meets no strangers and she always finds a way to put a smile on everyone’s face. Rochelle never puts herself above others. She has always remained humbled, and she has never treated others in a negative way.

Over the past few years, Rochelle has lost many loved ones, and also, she has had severe health battles as well. Yet and still, during these challenging times in her life she still made a way to take a few moments to check on others. During some of these times, while she was in the hospital, she made a way to check on others regardless. Rochelle is a prime example of being genuine at heart.

It’s not Death It’s a Transition

The harsh reality we all have in common is transitioning from this world to a different world. I believe we have been taught to focus so much on the word “death” that we forget, right now in this moment we live! I do not believe in death eternally! Think about great people who are no longer here, yet their legacy lives. I am baffled by the emphasis on the word “death”. We are taught so much about living right so “when we die” we go to a greater place. Well, I want to encourage everyone to live, live, live!!

When those we know transition it hurts those of us who are left behind.(Mainly because we are left behind). However, let us not forget the legacy of those we know, cherish, or admire allows them to live through others. This is not death, this is transition. The transition from one life to the next has no dead zone. Yes, physically they no longer are here, yet and still their legacy lives.

The existence of life eternally is not stopped by death, for eternity lives forever.

Reggie’s main focus is to host events in his hometown and bring celebrities there to make an impact in the community.

Eventually, Reggie would like to do back to school and scholarship giveaways.

Reggie’s dream project would be a big festival for a weekend with live bands, comedians, r&b, country, and hip hop.

Reggie’s insight to all is “Stay positive. Be stronger than your excuses. Get a mentor. Do your best to be the version of you.”
